TASHKENT, November 3, 2025 – The inaugural 'China-Uzbekistan Innovation Leaders Forum,' initiated by ArkInno Hub (Shenzhen) Industrial Operation Co., Ltd. and co-hosted by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the National Technology Transfer and Innovation Implementation Office, was successfully held today in Tashkent. The forum brought together elites from government, industry, academia, and research sectors of both China and Uzbekistan, aiming to explore deep collaboration opportunities in the green economy and cultural tourism. This event marks a significant new phase in innovative cooperation between the two nations.
The forum featured a distinguished gathering of participants. The Chinese delegation included 30 Chinese entrepreneurs who traveled to the forum, along with representatives from over ten leading universities and research institutions. The Uzbek side demonstrated strong commitment, with participation from representatives of five key national ministries, 43 prominent local entrepreneurs, and other relevant government and institutional representatives. All parties gathered to engage in in-depth exchanges centered on the core theme of 'Green Innovation, Connecting the Future.'
A significant milestone of the forum was the official launch of the Uzbekistan National Innovation Model Accelerator (UIMA). As a national-level innovation platform directly under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan, UIMA is committed to building a 'Government-Industry-Academia-Research-Finance' integrated innovation ecosystem, aiming to establish itself as a Central Asian hub for green innovation industries. Mr. Farkhod Jumayev, Director of the National Technology Transfer and Innovation Implementation Office of Uzbekistan, elaborated on UIMA's platform functions and development plan during the launch ceremony. UIMA deeply integrates academic research resources with industrial needs, driving green technology innovation through cutting-edge scientific achievements, and focusing on cultivating industrial clusters in renewable energy, clean technology, and the circular economy. It is establishing a complete industry-academia-research transformation system in fields such as solid waste resource utilization, remanufacturing, and circular agriculture.
Through its innovation sandbox mechanism, UIMA provides enterprises with full-cycle services ranging from policy liaison and market access to technology adaptation, funding connections, and talent development. This approach systematically mitigates the risks for Chinese companies expanding overseas, addressing challenges related to institutional differences, cultural gaps, and technical standards. The platform aims to streamline the market entry process, enabling Chinese enterprises to achieve a smoother landing and sustainable development in Uzbekistan and the broader Central Asian market.
The forum focused on key future-oriented industries, with dedicated discussions on four core areas: Green Energy, Green Mining, Green Agriculture, and Cultural Tourism. Participants shared valuable insights and forward-looking perspectives on technological innovation, policy support, market opportunities, and sustainable development paths in these fields. The exchanges were vibrant and productive, leading to growing consensus.
A highlight of the event was the distinctive thematic dialogue session on 'Industrial Future and Cultural Integration between China and Uzbekistan.' Business leaders from the real economy sectors of both countries shared the stage. They engaged in practical discussions on future industry trends, technological cooperation, and investment opportunities, while also delving into the common ground and complementarities between the two ancient civilizations in terms of values, business philosophies, and people-to-people exchanges from a cultural integration perspective. The dialogue emphasized that successful industrial cooperation is inseparable from mutual cultural understanding and respect, and that true sustainable development combines economic win-win outcomes with cultural synergy.
Michael Wang, Chairman of ArkInno Hub (Shenzhen) Industrial Operation Co., Ltd., the initiator of the forum, stated, 'We are immensely honored to have collaborated with key international and national organizations to make this event possible. ArkInno Hub is consistently dedicated to building a global ecosystem for industrial innovation and cooperation. This forum provided a high-level dialogue platform for us and our partners from both China and Uzbekistan, laying a solid foundation for subsequent project matching and concrete collaborations.'
Ms. Liping Zhang, Chief Representative of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), highly commended the forum, noting that such transnational, cross-sectoral innovation dialogues are crucial for advancing the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, particularly in promoting goals related to clean energy and responsible consumption and production.
An official from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan highlighted that the forum represents a significant milestone in deepening Uzbekistan-China relations in science, technology, innovation, and industrial cooperation, expressing anticipation for more substantive achievements in talent exchange, technology transfer, and joint research.
The successful convening of the inaugural China-Uzbekistan Innovation Leaders Forum has not only built a direct communication bridge for entrepreneurs, scholars, and government officials from both countries but has also clearly outlined the vast cooperative potential and broad prospects in the green economy and cultural fields between China and Uzbekistan. All parties agreed to use this event as a starting point to establish regular exchange mechanisms and jointly promote the transformation of cooperative intentions into concrete projects, contributing to the construction of a China-Uzbekistan innovation community.
